Engaging with Children and Young People in Your Community: Is it right for us?

Engaging with Children and Young People in Your Community: Is it right for us?

WHAT: Children and young people are an important part of every community, but many town and parish councils are unsure whether engagement is needed, what it should look like, or where to begin. This information session will explore why listening to young people matters, the importance of understanding their needs and priorities, and how councils can take realistic, achievable steps without overpromising.

This webinar will cover:

  • Why listen to children and young people?
  • Finding the young people in your community?
  • Engagement or delivery? What do you want and what do young people want?
  • Managing expectations: being honest about resources and what can be achieved.
  • What else is already going on locally or nearby?
  • Quick engagement or long-term provision; a one-off event or a weekly youth club?
  • Next steps
