Worcestershire County Association of Local Councils

Clerk and RFO Bishampton & Throckmorton

Bishampton & Throckmorton Parish Council is seeking a self-motivated person to fill the exciting role of the Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer (RFO) to the Council.  The role is home based but includes attending regular meetings in the parish so own transport is essential.

The Clerk/RFO is responsible for preparing agendas, taking minutes, dealing with correspondence, liaising with contractors, local government officials and the public.  Duties include managing of accounts, preparing budgets and VAT returns.  The Clerk ensures that correct procedures are followed and advises the Parish Council to ensure that it acts lawfully.

Applicants must be computer literate with own internet access and will need strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.  Workloads will fluctuate so a flexible approach and the ability to prioritise and manage time is important.

Previous experience working as a Parish Clerk and knowledge of Local Government is highly desirable as is the CiLCA qualification or willingness to undertake the qualification.

The Parish is unusual in owning the village pub, shop and flat on behalf of the community which adds additional challenges and reward to this dynamic role.

We hold the LGA Quality Award and uphold the Civility and Respect pledge and pride ourselves on being an efficient, effective and friendly parish council.

The salary is based on 40 hours per month and will be calculated on the LGA/NALC salary scale.  The salary range is expected to be SCP 26– 30 (£37,280 -£40,777 pro rata) depending on qualifications and experience.
